Tours of Avalon Archaeology Park
Enjoy a guided tour of the reconstructed buildings at the Avalon Archaeology Park.

This is a rare opportunity to experience buildings that existed thousands of years ago and discover the world of the Romans, Vikings and Anglo-Saxons.

The tour will be led by, Dr Richard Brunning, the archaeologist in charge of the project. One building is the dining room of a Roman villa, with frescoes and hypocaust heating system. The other building is a 9th century Saxon longhall based on one discovered at Cheddar.

The tour will explain how the buildings were made and what was discovered during their construction. There is also a full-size replica of a Viking trading vessel, based on a find from Skuldelev in Denmark.  Five tickets left for tour at 2pm.

Suggested donation: £3 per person.
